Artist's Vintage Smock Pattern!

Maternity and/or artist's smock, either way this is a darling pattern from the 1950's and 1960's! I remember getting a package in the mail from my mother and was surprised and thrilled when I opened it to find she had made for me two of these smocks, both in blue—one medium blue plaid and the other a soft pastel.

As I awaited the birth of my first child, I felt like a princess in my pretty new smocks. My mom was such a sweetheart! She cherished every single day for what it was and took every opportunity to celebrate her children and show her love for us. Even with six children, she found time to create wonderful memories for each of us and often for others as well. Miss you, Mom.

Dear Coralie...I have so many vintage patterns and there is just something about looking at the wholesome pictures and sketches that draws me in. I miss the days when modesty while 'expecting' a child was sought out, and even more so, valued. I had my children i '82 and '84. I made my maternity clothes. I kept just one dress...a reminder of how tiny I was...even at 9 months.
    Lovely...Hugs, Rebecca

I love the vintage patterns. I look through the patterns in the thrift stores but haven't found any yet. That doesn't mean I'm giving up though!
You have such wonderful memories of your Mother. She was a dear woman!
    Blessings,

  2. There are sites online for buying vintage patterns...and some go for a good price...no doubt of intereste to designers for film etc.
I recently ordered a fifty's flared coat pattern...and will make my small attempt at
bringing fashing back! One person at a time.;)
Thank you for your beautiful site.

  3. LOVE!! Where can I purchase the pattern? I have a similar one & I made it in a cute print. However I’m not as ambitious as I used to be & I did it with no instructions whatsoever- while I was expecting my first child. Great maternity blouse & I too miss modesty with maternity clothes so I sought out vintage smocks such as this one as a substitute for those modern spandex, belly-baring, cheap new styles.
