B is for Boisterous!

Are all puppies boisterous? That has certainly been my experience. And you know what? I wouldn't want it any other way. I mean, why else would I have a puppy? To hold and pet? Nah! To run wildly and freely...boisterously enjoying life? Yes!
My girls: Betsy-Belle & Bonnie Lass, romping boisterously!

Mother and Susan Share Pink Saturday Fun!

"Look Mother. I have a green ball, a blue airplane, and a blue chair," says Susan.
"They are very pretty, Susan," says Mother. "And I am wearing my pretty new pink skirt."
"Mother, may I play here?" Susan asks.
"Of course you may play here, Susan! It's a beautiful autumn day and also Pink Saturday.
We can celebrate together!" Mother replies.
"Thank you, Mother!" Susan exclaims.
"You are welcome, Susan. Everyone loves Pink Saturday!"

A is for ANGEL!

This is our beautiful Angel sheltie who brought unconditional love, loyalty, and joy to our home for 11 years! She passed on to the Rainbow Bridge long ago but has been kept safely in our hearts. She truly was a little furry angel every day of her life! And we are grateful to have had her in our lives.

A Prayer for Night!

Professor Francis C. Tilden and his wife, the poet Ethel Arnold Tilden, taken in 1948

Illinois Professor Francis C. Tilden taught at DePauw for over 30 years. The popular and much-admired professor retired in June 1940. He died in 1958 at the age of 85 and was buried in Forest Hill Cemetery. His wife, Ethel Arnold Tilden, who preceded him in death in 1950, was a widely recognized poet as well as housewife and mother. A Greencastle native and graduate of DePauw, she was perhaps best known for writing the words to an oratorio composed for the 150th anniversary of Methodism by Van Denman Thompson, "The Evangel of the Western World" (https://www.depauw.edu/library/archives/ehistory/chapter3/Tilden.html).

Pink Sand on a Peaceful Beach!

A Coconut-Shaded Bathing Beach of Hawaii - by D. Howard Hirchcock

About a year ago at a favorite antique mall, I discovered a 1930's scrapbook put together by an art-loving young woman long ago. This is one of the many paintings she cut from a then current art magazine and pasted into her book! Pink-shaded sand on a peaceful beach—so lovely!

Furry Babysitter!

Hi! My name is Bonnie Lass and I'm almost 12 years old. My birthday is next month. My mom and dad brought home a new sheltie this summer and now I have to babysit her all the time. I used to lay on the couch all day after Carrie went to the Rainbow Bridge but now I have to go outside and play every single day! And, you know what? I'm getting healthier and happier all the time. I guess having a little sister named Betsy Belle isn't so bad after all! In fact, I kind of like her!

Commotion in the Backyard!

Barking and circling is the greatest fun for new sheltie "sisters" and friends, Bonnie Lass and Betsy Belle! Guess you can tell from this photo what's going on at our house! And we're lovin' it! Have a great day everyone!

1940's Good Housekeeping Magazine!

This little girl reminds me of a time when I had a sewing machine just like this one; wore a ruffled pinafore, and played with my nurse doll! Don't you just love the colors in this vintage magazine cover!

VIOLET!

Our assignment for the final week of Mrs. Matlock's Alphabe-Thursday's Rainbow Summer School, is to find and post something VIOLET! This little art print is from a 1940's pictorial scrapbook I recently discovered and, if you love vintage as I do, you'll love this dear little girl kneeling in prayer on her cozy VIOLET Chenille spread! Perhaps, I'm just a nostalgic romantic but doesn't this picture just send one back to sweeter simpler time?

Betty White and a Few of Her Favorite Pets!

Yes, here she is, the beautiful Betty White—PICTURED on her amazing PINK sofa —in the 1950's, with a few of her PETS. What a marvelous woman, movie star, and lover of animals. She was and continues to be a huge supporter of animal rights! And, oh, how we love her for this!

(Thank you Jann for finding and sharing this fabulous image!)
