  1. Love the cover art on that one! :) I see Lassie, Come Home! under 'You Might Also Like' and that one brings back memories. I read it to my two younger kids a couple of years ago when Tucker was just old enough to really sit and listen to a full-length novel. Sweet memories! :)

  2. I wonder if the cover art was modeled after the boy who played Timmy in the TV series. That dimple looks just like his!

  4. Old books should be back on the shelves and let the kids read it. Some of our books now has to be read by parents first, there might be something inside that we don't expect ^_^ Thanks for sharing!

  12. We were just talking about Lassie the other day with Colt. I remember like it was yesterday when he told Lassie that he didn't love him anymore and Lassie had to leave home. I cried for days... till I found out the real story.
LOVED THIS SHOW Coralie. I didn't know you were a Lassie fan with all these beautiful books. I posted about a little mouse today...we were on the same wave.
    Happy BLue Monday

  13. When I was a little girl I wanted a dog just like Lassie--instead my dog was skinny with no hair and her name was Gumbow. She became the apple of my eye, and as far as I could tell, she was every bit as smart as Lassie.

I LOVED watching that show! This brings back so many memories.

  15. Lassie was very special to me! I watched the shows on TV and the movies when they came on TV. I had a collie nanny named Rex (short for Rexland Prince of Hope)! When I was born my parents owned a chicken house that my Mama took care of when my Daddy was on the road (we're talking 3arly to mid 1950') driving a truck. When the weather was nice, Mama would put me in he yard on a quilt and tell Rex to watch me. He would not let me off of that quilt, and if I tried too hard, he would bark and bark for Mama to come check on me. At night, if Mama had to go into the chicken house to check on something, Rex would go into the feed room and watch for her, but he would never go into where the chickens were. He would, however, visit the neighbor's chicken houses and steal chickens. One such time he got hit by a car bringing the chicken home. Daddy found him and brought him home and he and Mama worked half the night trying to save him (we didn't have many vets around, and couldn't have afforded one if there was!) but they couldn't do it. I cried and cried. A year or so later (1958) our chicken house was hit by lightning and burned to the ground. I was 2 months shy of 6 years old and Mama was 8 1/2 months pregnant with my little brother. She woke me up and we laid on the bed and watched the forestry service equipment trying to save the chicken house and keep the fire from spreading. My brother never knew Rex or the chicken house, and I only have my memories and several dozen chicken feed sacks that my mother lovingly removed the threads from, washed, dried on the line, ironed and packed away in bags. She gave them to me a couple of years ago. What a treasure - both memories and feed sacks! Blessings, Becky G.
