World's Largest Grandest 1896 Amusement!

I received this beautiful birthday puzzle from a friend who discovered it at The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village gift shop. This 1896 Barnum and Bailey poster portrays the sights and sounds of the circus as they might crowd into a child's dream.

The poem in yellow reads, "This smiling face is multiplied a million times a year whereas the children's mightiest friend these wonderous shows appear. With sunny gleams of fairyland, with scenes of merriest glee, with cute and cunning animals from either side the sea."

No matter how one feels about the circus of old, the colors of this picture are truly beautiful...vintage lovely and a joy to see!

The Enchanting Perfection of Pink!

This week I have more pink "box tops" from my vintage greeting card box collection to share with you. These beautiful boxes have some of my favorite vintage graphics but are becoming harder and harder to find. So, if you see some while on your thrifty flea market adventures, grab them while you can! They are such a lovely tribute to times past!

Boxes of Beauty for Pink Saturday!

The Bobbsey Twins at the Seashore and More!

Here are some of the fabulous finds I was able to bring back home with me after our wedding anniversary outing to one of our favorite antique malls. I'd been looking long and hard for a copy of The Bobbsey Twins at the Seashore and finally found one complete with dust jacket! The Motor Girls on Cedar Lake seemed to fit perfectly into my seaside book collection, again complete with dust cover! And, then there were two feedsacks I just could not resist. Can you find them in the basket?
A darling little cloth doll and her scotties were the next treasures discovered! Really just too darn cute!
Add to those fantastic finds, two vintage greeting card boxes and you have one happy camper!
A 1946 Whitman Publishing Company puzzle was next! Don't you just love this!

I always look for vintage gift wrap but hardly ever find but a piece here and there but on this day I found a whole lot of gorgeously decorated gift wrap complete in the original box!
Here are a few of the designs...kittens, cottage doors, red roses...
...and here are a few more, baby, wedding, birthday along with tiny gift cards. Woo-hoo! What a find!!!
We've talked about Louisa May Alcott's Little Women recently but on this day I also found a volume of Little Men with it's 1950's colorful cover and stories yet to be read!
Another copy of The Bobbsey Twins at the Seashore (I know, I know, I'd already found one, but I just couldn't pass this up.) I don't know if two are better than one, but I love them both!
A vintage Tampa, Florida resort beach postcard was the final item in this group of fun finds. Love those vintage colors!
We had a great time on our anniversary outing. The shelties loved coming with us and picnicking along the way. Treats for everyone! A truly wonderful time!

Vintage Rose-covered Box!

Added this beautiful rose-covered box to my vintage box collection recently! They just keep on getting prettier and prettier! 

A Box of Friendship!

Yesterday, Jim and I drove up to our home after attending a meeting and there on our porch steps sat this interesting looking box.

"Looks like you won again," Jim laughed. (He likes to tease me about my eBay and Etsy purchases!)

"No, I'm sure I don't have anything coming. I haven't ordered anything for a couple of weeks." I was completely surprised to see the parcel there.

Once inside the house, I couldn't wait to see the contents. And I couldn't have been more thrilled! That box held FRIENDSHIP in the form of three beautiful vintage greeting boxes from my dear friend Laurie of Indulge Your Shelf. She wrote that she'd seen them at a flea market and thought of me. Well, you all know how crazy I am about vintage boxes. And I can tell you that I not only loved the boxes but was touched deeply by the thought that Laurie had done this for me.

Thank you Laurie! You are an amazing friend and your thoughtfulness is beyond measure!

A Few Of My Favorite Vintage Boxes!

Here are just a few more of my favorite vintage greeting card boxes. And, yes, I do collect the greeting cards too! I'm a bit infatuated with all the illustrations and graphics from way back when! Can you tell?

Crazy for Boxes!

Crazy for boxes? Oh yes! Especially vintage greeting card boxes! A few recent thrifty finds have brought me back to my crafting basics and my love for paper! 

The cover of this vintage Easter box must have been damaged at some time way back when. So when I found it at an antique shop, it had the old makeshift yellow cellophane cover you see (removed) in the first picture. 

I then took a sheet of gold/pink scrapbook paper, covered the box top, glued the vintage bunny to the center and ended up with a pretty Easter box to fill with vintage Easter cards and add to my vintage box collection!
