Here's the Halloween witch right before leaving home for a fun evening of trick or treating! But kitty-cat had to stay home as I had a large paper bag to carry around the neighborhood!
This sweet kitty came in a surprise package all the way from California from my dear grandmother, Amanda. Before she moved to California, she had promised me a cat since I'd wanted one so badly. My parents looked at grandmother and shook their heads, " No, no, we can't have a cat at our house." It was not to be...
So here came this wonderful surprise package in the mail and right before Halloween! Can you just imagine the thrill of opening it to find this sweet cat inside! A joyful occasion it was indeed! It was the best Halloween ever!
What was your best Halloween ever?

That is so sweet! I remember running around the neighborhood with my big plastic pumpkin filled to the brim with candies! What memories. Thank you for sharing!! Have a great day..xo Tami
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet story! And you looked grand in your witch costume too! My favorite Halloweens usually weren't going house to house for candy, but in the party my church had for the youth group where there would be lots of kids of all ages and bobbing for apples, etc. It was wonderful! Suzie
ReplyDeleteThis just made my morning! So sweet, Coraline!!! I love it!

Wonderful story! I love that picture! My Halloween memories are of wearing a paper bag over my head that had holes cut out so I could see. My mom always made me wear a coat so there was no need of dressing up. Happy memories though. Enjoy your day! Twyla
ReplyDeleteMy best Halloween ever was the one where I got Angel as a birthday present. That was my 19th birthday. I loved Halloween as a child. It felt like everyone was celebrating your birthday with you. Lots of people would give me extra candy if they knew it was also my birthday.
ReplyDeleteHi, Corlie!
ReplyDeleteCannot remember my best halloween ever .... but I DO remember those saddle shoes! I was rebel and scrapped them on the sides of the curb to wear them out so I could get different shoes. (we had a rule, one pair of school shoes at a time -- no matter HOW much I hated them ...)
It was a happy day when they bit the dust!
Hugs and thanks for stopping by my White Wednesday. I'm looking forward to seeing your vintage wedding illustrations!
Betty :)
Very sweet memory for you, and story for us. Loved the pic! Hmm, Halloween in Hillsdale, Michigan, going in a car, most likely our old Hudson, running up to porches with my two older brothers. Coming home with an entire grocery bag of loot, dumping it all between our legs and gazing at our treasures and somehow going to bed with a belly full of candy on a school night. Today, I dress up to answer the door. Last year I painted on horrific eyebrows and a very large mole and gelled my hair straight up.
ReplyDeleteThe corgis and I would answer the door, and the kids would back away. Gee whizz...can't an old lady have fun anymore???
Finally getting time to check on blogs and what a sweet memory you've shared! Hope this Halloween season is as fun!
ReplyDeleteThe Halloween I remember most is not the best. I was trick or treating in my grandmother's neighbourhood. I did not know the area very well and I was all by myself. I had a crepe paper costume and it started to rain. The dye ran, the costume fell apart and the treats were very meager. It was a very miserable night for me.
ReplyDeleteYou are such a cute little witch... even have your broomstick with you! lovely memories.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
