I wouldn't want to have to wear all the petticoats, corset, and undergarments required for such a lovely old-fashioned parlor gown as the one pictured but isn't it lovely and luxurious looking! Fashions over time have changed again and again but this gorgeous gown certainly has captured a special place in my vintage heart! Don't you just love it!

ReplyDeleteI agree, the gowns are lovely, but oh, the restraint that would ensue from wearing one! Happy Pink Saturday to you! Suzie
ReplyDeleteI love that era to LOOK at but to wear all that 'stuff' had to cumbersome & HOT & hot flashes are enough for me! Chuckle.
ReplyDeleteHave a BOO-tea-FULL Halloween.

Yes, I do love it! I think I would love to be dressed up like that just one time to see how it would feel to look like a princess! Not now, though, too many pounds!! Love to you, dear friend! Vicki
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely dress. Guess it wouldn't fit in with the times now but it IS so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI love the look- but would never love the weight or the heat of those petticoats. Lovely image, happy PS!
ReplyDeleteHi Coralie, I do love the dress..I would have liked to dress in the big hoop dresses of the south and the old west for awhile..but just for a short while. Can you imagine trying to get into all the petticoats, etc.?? But weren't they beautiful. Happy Pink Saturday and I love both your blogs. Have a safe and happy Halloween.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I do love that dress. The clothes of that era are so feminine. So different from now. I loved the 40's & 50's too when a lady did not go anywhere without a hat & gloves...
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday
Happy Halloween
Love,
Marilyn
It would be a fabulous gown on that era. Lovely painting. Gorgeous post.
ReplyDeleteHappy PS Coralie.
Enjoy the weekend.
I grew up in the 50's when you had to wear a girdle or garter belt to hold up you hose and all real ladies wore a slip. Seem like my white gloves always had smudges when it was time for church. Pretty to look at but give my jeans. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting! That era was so lovely. Happy Pink Saturday. Come visit me sometime if you would like. Have a great day!!
ReplyDeleteI love the look of those gowns from time gone by, but like you , I would not want to wear all that goes with it...epescially the corset! I need to breath! ha!
ReplyDeletePink Blessings!

Lovely pink gown! This was such a formal and fanciful time...so unlike today. Happy pink Saturday.

I've often wondered how I would have faired in a world of long skirts and layers of petticoats. I think I would have been a rebel! Still, these postcards and pictures are SO lovely!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! Thank you so much for posting this gorgeous piece!
Hi Coralie! That is so beautiful! I love those vintage fashions. I've actually worn those layers onstage...let me tell you, a corset and lots of layers under stage lights is not fun! I don't know how those ladies did it...lots of swooning, I think! Happy Pink Saturday!
ReplyDeleteOh, when ladies had leisure to get all gussied up in those beautiful gowns. It must have taken hours to adjust the corset! Gorgeous picture! Have a wonderful Halloween...eat lots of goodies, Coralie! Speaking of goodies, I must check out your recipes this very minute and get caught up on all the treats!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Marilyn

ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday sweetie. I so love this beautiful post. The lady is just breathtaking. I too loved that era of clothing, if we didn't have to wear so many undergarments. How beautiful this gown is. Perfect for your Pink Saturday post. Love it.
