Our assignment this week for Mrs. Matlock's Alphabe-Thursday's Rainbow Summer School, is to find and post something YELLOW! This vintage 1943 Parents' Magazine is from a 1940's pictorial scrapbook I recently discovered.
Looks like many of the topics are still the same after 60 years:
- On rearing children from crib to college
- The Family Home
- Feeding the Family
- Family Fashions
- Family Fun
- What Kind of Discipline in the Home?
- The Boy-Girl Question?
That was so me back-in-the-day as I always had a feline somewhere in my life!!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Marilyn

ReplyDeleteYou are right the big issues haven't changed.
ReplyDeleteSo fun! Love the cover and bet the articles are sweet! Happy yellow thursday!
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful that blogging is giving us back some of these lovely vintage covers and artifacts. Thank you for following me!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that magazine's been around all these years, wow.
ReplyDeleteThe big hurdles and questions in life don't change over the years. I love that picture of the sweet little girl with her kitty! Thanks for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteHOORAY, HOORAY! I'm here, I'm here! Darn, I was so excited I forgot to look at the graphic.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun subject! I love how things change but always stay the same!
You could republish that now with just a few language changes and it would be spot on!
Thanks for linking Coralie!
I am so happy to be able to see you here.
I will try coming over from the Linky when I get to your number, too, to see if I can get in that way as well!
A+

Hi just dropped by from the UK and your blog is so interesting - will call again
ReplyDeleteHappy Week
HI CORALIE, ADORABLE PICTURE, YOU ARE SO RIGHT, IT'S LIKE A CIRCLE, IT KEEPS GOING AROUND AND ALL THE OUT DATED STUFF IS ON ITS WAY BACK. IF WE ONLY NEW THEN. YELLOW IS WARM AND CHEERFUL, AND SO IS THAT LITTLE CUTIE PIE IN THE PICTURE. RIZZI
ReplyDeleteThe topics are the same as today, I wish the values were too! A darling cover!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Home and Heart! Now if we can get family values and morals back, we'll be set! Really cute yellow find!
ReplyDeleteOOHHH....I just found you on Alphabet Thursday and I love your blog. I am grabbing your button. Love vintage ads and clip art too. I have some old magazines and it cracks me up what they would write about...particularly the articles for women.
ReplyDeleteSo very cute illustration !
ReplyDeleteThe really important issues haven't changed at all - just the values unfortunately! *sigh* :(
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post. I visit yr lovely blog often but don't always have time to leave a comment - my apologies!
XOXO LOLA:)
We just seem to go 'round and 'round trying to figure out the same things, generation after generation.....parenting issues don't really change that much, do they?
ReplyDeleteThis is nice. It is amazing how things really do stay the same.
