Still Life on a Quiet Sunday Morning

Still life in our cottage dining room. I love the cottage white of this old cabinet which belonged to my husband's grandmother. A washstand with carved floral designs and pull-out drawers, it was one of the first pieces of furniture she and her husband purchased long ago. Though it had lingered long in the attic of my husband's childhood home, it stayed in remarkably good condition. And when rediscovered, fit perfectly into our vintage cottage home.

  1. Lovely. There's nothing better than having furniture that's long been in the family.

  2. Oh, Coralie, this is just lovely! Don't you love the old pieces handed down from loved ones? We have my husband's grandmother's china cabinet, several pieces of her old wicker, many needle point pieces. I have a spinning wheel that was made by my great-great grandfather (maybe 3 greats back) right after the Civil War. These pieces mean the world to us! How fortunate you are to have such a special piece!
