Collecting Vintage Greeting Cards!

Here's a lovely vintage cottage home so sweetly displayed on this vintage greeting card. I just love all the vintage illustrations and graphics from the last century. Can't get enough of them as you can tell from my posts. I find that vintage greeting cards are a source of continuing pleasure. Just looking at them, marveling at the colors of long ago, is enough to make a spirit soar.

Too, they work well for altered art, scrapbooking, and other artful crafting projects. I usually scan and print to make a copy rather use the original in my projects. This works best for me. Have you used vintage greeting cards in your arts and crafts projects? I'd love to know if you've found interesting ways to use them!

  2. Oh, what a beautiful cottage! I have been looking for a graphic of a cottage to use on my blog, but the pretty ones are always copyrighted. Could I "borrow" this for my blog sidebar? Pretty please?!

  3. Hi, Coralie,
I want to live in that pretty little cottage with the white picket fence! Like you, I can't get enough of these vintage papers. I am not a real crafter, but one way I have seen them used is to surround the vintage postcards with beautiful material, ribbons, flowers, buttons, etc. and then frame them for the wall or table. I enjoyed my visit as I always do with you. Have a great week. Vicki

  5. Thank you for visiting my blog!! It's fun to meet other gals who enjoy the same things that I do.
As for ideas...making a new card from a copy of the card and as someone else mentioned..framing them and altering them is fun. It is a very pretty card.
    I'll be stopping by again.

  6. I feel the same way!! Just looking at the sweet pictures just makes my heart happy!
I too scan and copy my cards. I can't stand the thought of cutting up such beautiful old cards.
I like using my card images to make tags and scrapbook layouts.
I was lucky enough to come home Sunday with a huge stack of vintage cards.

  7. I think this is my favorite card that you've created. I have put vintage images on cards sometimes but I'm still not real comfortable with it. I don't really quite know how to finish it. I do want to start some altered art projects to but I'm a-scared!!!

    Blessings,
    Christine

  8. So sweet. I just love the vintage images too, and just finished up a little project. I couldn't bear to cut up the cards, so I scanned them in and then cut what I needed. You have a lovely blog!
