Ketchikan is named after the Ketchikan Creek which flows through the town. The name Ketchikan come from the Tlingit (a native Alaskan tribe) word for creek. It has also been written that the word means "Thundering Wings of an Eagle." Whatever the meaning, the picture makes clear that this is an amazingly beautiful area of the world and one not often seen by many.

Coralie!! What a beautiful place Ketchikan is!! I stopped over at the airport there once, what an interesting group of people! I would like to go back and actually visit the town and have a look around. Have you been to visit your friend? What a magnificent state Alaska is, we are so fortunate to have her! Thanks for sharing Coralie!

I had the privilege of visiting the great beauty of Alaska. One of the best trips I ever took was there. I was in this town on the tour. Thanks for taking me back to great memories.
ReplyDeleteWow, very nice picture. It actually reminds me of a jigsaw puzzle. I love meeting new people. I am Yoli from deep south Texas. I can't image living in such a scenice place. South Texas is pretty but no mountains!
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed visiting your blog. I'm a Christian single mom of 2 teen kids, working fulltime, and sewing during my spare time. Please come on over for a visit.

ReplyDeleteHello Coralie, I think the picture of Ketchikan is so lovely in the blue hues. We have been there when we cruised to Alaska. We loved the city and we were captured by the lovely place. It was summer and the flowers were outstanding. Have you been able to visit your friend who lives and works there?
