However, the price was a bit steep so I decided I would just have to leave it behind. So we returned home, but my love of collies and shelties and Lassie just kept reminding me that I should have bought the poster while I had a chance. But the sale was over and we weren't going back.
And...you guessed it! I forget what Jim's excuse was for 'going out for a few minutes' but when he returned it was with poster in hand! What a gift of love! But it was huge! There wouldn't be a frame large enough for it. But he handled that too and went out to his workshop and made this beautiful wooden frame which I've cherished all these years!
Lassie Come Home sits right above my computer desk and I get to enjoy the scene in living color every day! Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's Technicolor Triumph lives on!
Oh, what a fun story! Isn't it great when our sweeties can read our hearts! Such a pretty poster and an awesome frame.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful story,Coralie. I have always had collies. Now I have a bichon and I love him too. I had a sweet sheltie,Oly, for 15 years.Such a love. My first dog was King, a beautiful collie. I grew up with him. MY mom would find him tucked into the covers of my bed when he was a puppy, my arms wrapped around him. He really took care of me. The family collie Danny was with us for a long long time until old age took him from us. I could go on and on my dogs have made my life whole. Thanks for this post. Sharon
