With little bells and cockle shells, and pretty maids all in a row."
When I was a child, my mother read to me every evening before bedtime. And I cannot remember any more cozy wonderful warm times as these. One of my favorite poems was Wynken, Blynken, and Nod and I would ask her to read it over and over again.
Sometimes on Saturday afternoons, she'd read Animal Crackers and Cocoa to Drink and she'd make us each a cup of cocoa and serve animal crackers. Oh what wonderful memories!
Remember learning those amazing children's first rhymes when you were a child? I always favored Little Miss Muffet, who sat on a tuffet, eating her curds and whey until along came a spider who sat down beside her and frightened Miss Muffet away. (I was always intrigued with the image of a spider sitting down beside her.)
Which was your favorite?
