I just love your posts! Its been a while since I commented, but just letting you know that I read every one!
ReplyDeleteBesides loving the languageI adore the detail in the illustrations. Wouldn't it be so much fun to have a dog you could hitch to a cart and take you for a ramble.
ReplyDeleteI rarely see illustrations in books anymore that provoke my imagination.
Love all your sweet books.
This reminds me of the set of books I have by Baldwin. His first name escapes me..sorry! Anyway....they are bound & printed much the same way!!
ReplyDeleteLove,

Hi Coralie....You are so right...the illustrations of the children are so sweet. I love the girls hair with the big bows. I have a couple of old illustrations on my newest post I think you'll like. I'm going to visit your ESTY shop real quick....Sue
ReplyDeleteThose old books are simply priceless. :) Love those illustrations!
ReplyDeleteJust lovely :) The art, though no color...let's our imagination fill in the pics...like a child's coloring book :)
ReplyDeleteI have a chance to head to a book sale!
They promise lots of old children's books dated 1930 to 1960 I am so excited!
LOVE the language AND the illustrations. Piece of art.

What an adorable book. Hugs Grace
ReplyDeleteI especially love the illustrations in old childrens books, I find many new books have very ugly illustrations.
ReplyDeleteDid I tell you how much I love your header! Well if I didn't I do. The books are charming. Old childrens books are my favorite of all.

Those stories remind me of the ones in my first grade class about Dick and Jane. Do you remember those?
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to check out that site...I love collecting things. Of course, I've made a vow to watch the buying for awhile! LOL
Oh Coralie, that book is delightful! I have been away for a bit and have missed all your treasures - off to have a look what you have been up to! Take care sweet lady!

Love these books, Coralie ... the art graphics draw me. I have a copy of that first wee girl pics. How come our beautiful stories of yore don't interest the wee ones of today ... sad.
ReplyDeleteHappy St. Patrick's Day ~
Have a lovely weekend.

I agree with Ann's comment: your header is adorable! And I love those old books from a time when school books weren't part of someone's political agenda, as they have been in Texas (my home state) this week.
ReplyDeleteThis looks a lot like the books I posted on March 5th! They're sweet! You haven't entered for my 100th post and I don't want anybody to miss it! Here's the direct link:

What a lovely book, they certainly don't make them like that anymore :) . I always gravitate towards the old books at our library book sale. This year I came home with a 1946 edition of Roget's Pocket Thesaurus. I had to have it because the cover is a lovely floral print ;) !
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Catherine :)
I too love your header, and those pages from the books are just so charming, and so innocent. I love that they were in black and white, so that it left more to the imagination of the child reading the book. Sad that we can't have that innocence in our children's books today.
ReplyDeleteJust have to say...That old saying about you can't tell a book by its cover has gone by the wayside for me too! I love the fancy old covers of some books and, if they are falling apart, so much the better. Then I create beautiful altered books with scraps and ephemera!
ReplyDeleteThey are so beautiful!
