One day I was telling my mother what I liked best about the church. Being a huge animal lover even at a very early age, I told my mom, "I just love church! And the best things are the stories! I especially love the stories about the leopards!"
Before Mom could say a word, my brother plowed right into the conversation! "Lepers, not leopards...gee, what a dope!"
My big brother may have taken many an opportunity to tease his little sister but he also turned out to be my greatest friend growing up and I feel so blessed to have our great and wonderful memories! Sundays seem to bring back all those special times and memories of the past. I cherish them all!
Happy Sunday everyone!
Coralie, That is a lovely picture. Thanks for sharing it with us this Sunday. Hugs Connie
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely post and sweet memories from when you were a child. Mr Kittens mother always mixes up her words. She once told me while she was shopping in the sales that the crowds were absolute KIOSK, instead of saying absolute CHAOS!!! And my mother said she had been shopping at IEEKA instead if IKEA! Love the old black and white photograph. X
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet story and picture. Reminds me of our Sundays. I always loved palm sunday as they would give us little crosses made out of palm. Growing up in cold MN I always wondered where they got the palm... Sharon
ReplyDeleteLovely post - made me chuckle this Sunday morn!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the stroll down memory lane. My mom used to make the clothes for my sister and me. I'll have to dig out those pictures the next time I visit my parents.
ReplyDeleteThis is also a good reminder to take some Sunday pictures of my kids, before they are grown up.
What a lovely fun memory to have ~ love the photo! Many Fall Blessings! kt
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute story! I've always wished I had a brother. Love the sweet picture, too! Twyla
ReplyDeleteI saw your link over at Katie's blog and had to come and tell you that you have the most perfect blog name. Hello, you.
ReplyDeleteOh.... what a sweet picture and such fond memories it brings back. We went to Sunday School each Sunday also and I wore pinafores and anklets and wiggled in the pews and caught church flies in my hands.
ReplyDeleteWe went to a Wednesday night bible study also and I liked it better, they told stories of leopards too!
Catching church flies in your hands...toooooooooo funny! Church was long for us little ones. I often counted the sides of each grandiose light fixture and wondered what would happen should one fall in the middle of service. Twiddling thumbs also helped to pass the time when things were being said that I could not understand.
ReplyDeleteI just loved church. I loved listening to all the sounds, and people watching, and I don't think I was ever bored. Thanks for posting the photo of your family...I feel I know them! I'm off to read your second book in a few days, just as soon as I finish a novel I'm reading!
