Whimsical Wednesday! Who Knew?

Who knew? Madmar Jigsaw Puzzles had been around for a long long time! According to Jigsaw Puzzles, An Illustrated History and Price Guide, by Anne Williams, the Madmar Quality Company was started in 1914 and produced puzzles until the 1950's when it was purchased by the Foster Paper Company which continued making puzzles until 1967.

These puzzles were made mainly of plywood and composition board. Madmar also made puzzles for Blue Ribbon, Interlox, and Mayfair jigsaw puzzles companies.

Did you ever have a Madmar puzzle? Or one of the other brands mentioned? Or had you heard of them before? These are new to me but I've had a recently revived interest in puzzles since I bought one at a yard sale and began building them again. What fun! Who knew?

  2. Where do I find all my pictures? I have many art and crafts books that have some of the vintage cards in them. I also have accumulated many postcard images though the years and always look for more at flea markets and in collage sheets!

  3. Never heard of them, but this graphic is SOOO COOL! This would be a really neat wall hanging in a child's room (which I've never done before, but am dying to tackle).

  4. Hi, Coralie,
What a wonderful puzzle! No, I had not heard of this company before. I do remember a puzzle I had in the early 1950's. It was a puzzle of monkeys and the fur on the monkeys was a raised velvet. I loved that puzzle so much. How I would love to know what became of it. Sending autumn blessings your way. Vicki
