Quilting With Feedsack Squares!

My 25 piece lots are extremely popular with quilters as they can have all the enjoyment of the unique patterns and charming vintage designs without having to buy whole feedsacks. And the 5" x 5" square size is perfect for making a variety of quilts.

The lap quilt shown below is an example of one made from 5" x 5" squares. Each square was first cut from corner to corner to create two triangles and then the triangles were randomly sewn together. One of my favorite piecing techniques is to let the colors happen by chance instead of choosing the pieces that will go together. Another words, I take whatever is on the stack, sew it to the next piece and see what happens. I love the surprise of color combinations that result from this technique.

Quilts can be made from any kind of fabric, can be any size and in any pattern. A lap quilt generally measures approximately 45" x 60" and can be hand pieced, hand quilted, or hand tied. Another words anything goes when it comes to quilting. It's all about having a good time and allowing the artist within the freedom to explore and create!

You can find some of the 25 piece lots at my new Etsy Shop.

So many bloggers find feedsack fabric at garage sales, and I'm wondering when it's my turn! I guess it really doesn't matter though, because I've tried quilting, and I've decided that it's best left to the talented ones, like yourself!
    Happy 4th of July!
